Craig Nelson, just completed his fifth year as Boys Basketball head coach at Washington High School in Sioux Falls, SD. In his 5 seasons at Washington, he has guided the Warriors to two Runner-Up finishes in the State AA Tournament and a third place finish. Nelson graduated from Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD where he played for Legendary Coach, Don Meyer. During his career, Nelson led the wolves to 98 wins, starting in all 121 games. In his senior season, the Wolves led the nation in 3 pt Field Goal % at 44%, and Coach Nelson ranked 4th among all Division II players and 1st in the Northern Sun Conference in 3 pt % at 50%. He also led the NSIC conference in FT% for 2 years, finishing his senior season at 93%, ranking top 5 in the country. In High School, Coach Nelson played for his father, where they won back to back state titles, including 50 wins in a row. He was named the North Dakota Class “B” Basketball Player of the Year and Associated Press North Dakota Male Athlete of the Year in 2003. Nelson and his wife Sara reside in Brandon, SD. They have 3 children: Nash (5), Briggs (4), and Jax (2).
